FAQs

What is a zine?
A zine (from the word magazine) is a compilation of illustrations and literary pieces focusing on a certain theme.
Specifically, this zine focuses on original pieces based on their OC’s travels around the world!
What is an OC?
An OC, or original character, refers to a fictional character conceptualized by a creator either through art or writing.
These OCs are given personality and character as well as a lore and background. Your OCs can exist in different fictional universes--canon or original!
What countries will be included?
As much as we can cover! We’ll make sure that there are even numbers in all continents across the world.
How do I apply?
Our contributor applications will soon open! Read further for our contributor guidelines.
How many contributors will be accepted?
We are tentatively counting:
13 page illustrators
5 spot artists
5 writers
3 merch artists
How will contributors be compensated? How will the profit be split?
All contributors are guaranteed a digital copy of the zine! Should we reach break even point,
all contributors will receive a free zine or even a full bundle + free shipping.
The profit will be split between the mods and contributors.

Guidelines

General Guidelines
• Everyone must have at least ONE (1) original character.
• Everyone are expected to submit a portfolio containing their works and sample pieces that will showcase their art style and quality of their work. Please submit 3-5 of your best pieces.
• Must be organized neatly! When using Google Drive, ensure that the link sharing is on and is set to "anyone can view". The mods will not be reaching out for broken links and the application will be disqualified.
Tip! Please do not submit your Twitter link as your portfolio.
• This is a PG-rated zine. While showing of skin, mild injury/wounds are OK, suggestive themes and straight up R-18 contents are not allowed.
Spot Artists and Writers
Spot Artists and Writers are expected to collaborate to which they will create piece together around a certain concept/idea. Example would be a travel blog of their OCs–the artist will draw the images used for the travel blog written by the writer.
Spot Artists may be asked to illustrated 3-5 small panels of their OCs with their partnered writer. For writers, the mods will be giving ideas and concepts for writers to choose and in turn, writers will create various write ups such as:
• Blogs
• Travel posts
• Captions
• Documentaries
• Anecdotes about their travels
• Articles and more!
While backgrounds are not required for spot illustrations, it is encouraged. The mods will be judging based on their overall composition, anatomy and rendition of spot art.
• 3-5 full illustrations. With backgrounds preferably.
Tip! Do not submit sketches or WIPs.
• Can be OC or fanworks.
Writers’ pieces will be judged based on:
• 3-5 sample written pieces.
• not required to be OC-centric, although it is highly recommended.

Page Artists
Page Artists are expected to contribute one (1) fully illustrated artwork centered around their OC. Backgrounds are a must as the piece needs to feature a real life location of their choice. The mods will be judging based on their overall composition, anatomy, and rendition of backgrounds.
• 3-5 full illustrations. With backgrounds and full bodies preferably.
Tip! Do not submit sketches or WIPs.
• Can be OC or fanworks.
• A5 - .125” bleed on all sides, portrait/spread orientation
• 5.8 x 8.3 in, 148 x 210mm
• 300 dpi resolution
• CMYK color space
Merch Artists
Merch Artists are expected to create various merch designs of their OCs. The mods will provide a list of merch ideas (depending on the results of the interest check!) and merch artists will sign up for their merch of choice (first come first serve basis). The mods will be judging based on their overall composition and rendition of merch art..
• 3-5 merch art / illustrations. Your pieces doesn’t have to be merch art, but it is encouraged.
Tip! Do not submit sketches or WIPs.
• Can be OC or fanworks.
• Specs will depend on merch item
Pinch Hitters
Everyone will be asked if they are willing to become a pinch hitter. A Pinch Hitter is someone who fills in the spot of a contributor that left the zine during creation phase. They will have a shorter time to create pieces assigned to them.
